Aiming to create Golden moments etched in your mind, ZoukOut 2008, everyone’s favourite beach party returns this December to take party people across the region on a brilliant escape into a rhapsody of music, dancing, art and festivities.
Like life’s peak experiences that unify, bring joy, and create a sense of interconnectedness, ZoukOut’s programme was conceived with the very intention to keep everyone blissfully entertained throughout the event, to stay and see the sunrise together.
“Zouk and its annual ZoukOut dance music festival have become icons of Singapore’s nightlife, giving the city's vibrant entertainment scene that extra edge. Over the past eight years, ZoukOut has built up a loyal following of both local and foreign fans with its strong appeal and repute in the international clubbing scene. Last year, ZoukOut 2007 drew a record 8,200 tourists who partied at Singapore's largest outdoor dance music festival from dusk to dawn. ZoukOut is undeniably one of the 'must-go' quintessential dance music festivals in Asia that has helped strengthen Singapore’s standing as the events and entertainment capital of Asia.” said Ms Lynette Pang, Director for Events and Entertainment Cluster Development of the Singapore Tourism Board.
Sundown, So Good! – ZoukOut extends its hours
In fitting with the golden theme, ZoukOut’s opening hours will be brought forward to 630pm to capture the sunset and include the best acts to suit the precious sundown hours.
French collective, Nouvelle Vague will perform LIVE and treat the crowd to their Bossa and Caribbean inspired arrangements of rarely covered songs from the 1980s New Wave and punk era that made them a worldwide success, beautiful renditions of classics like Joy Division’s 'Love Will Tear Us Apart’ and Depeche Mode’s ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’.
Complementing the sunset line up are remarkable homegrown bands like Moods primed to release their new album and Bloco Singapura + NovoBloco, comprised of an 8 piece band and a 40 strong percussion team playing carnival rhythms, fused with contemporary sounds. After an unforgettable debut at The Night Festival in July 2008, this rousing act is bound to get the crowd moving.
Electrico, Singapore’s favourite band will return with new arrangements of tracks from their latest record especially to perform at ZoukOut, to show another side of their music and build on the momentum of the artists playing before them.
Awards aren’t everything but they sure are nice!
Zouk and ZoukOut enjoyed a double win at the prestigious Singapore Tourism Awards 2008, a night that rewards the stars in the local tourism industry. ZoukOut 2007 and Zouk were awarded the coveted “Best Event Leisure Experience” and “Best Club” respectively.
